Wed, Sep 21, 2022

Canadian privacy authorities met this week in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Acting Yukon Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC) Jason Pedlar attended this annual national meeting for the first time.

Newfoundland and Labrador Information and Privacy Commissioner Michael Harvey hosted the meeting of federal, provincial and territorial information and privacy commissioners and ombudspersons from September 19th through the 21st.

This was the first face-to-face meeting of privacy commissioners since 2019. The meeting included presentations from several experts and valuable discussions on topics of mutual interest.

A key outcome of the meeting was the issuance of a joint resolution on securing public trust in digital healthcare, which was endorsed by all commissioners. Read more on the resolution here.

The Yukon Ombudsman, Information and Privacy Commissioner, and Public Interest Disclosure Commissioner is an independent officer of the Yukon Legislative Assembly.
