Canada’s privacy commissioners issue comments and advice on vaccine passports

Wed, May 19, 2021

WHITEHORSE - The Yukon Information and Privacy Commissioner, Diane McLeod-McKay, joined other privacy commissioners from across Canada today to issue a statement on vaccine passports. The joint statement emphasizes that such passports or other similar documents must meet the highest level of privacy protection. The statement also outlines key issues that should be considered and principles that should be followed as governments and businesses contemplate the introduction of vaccine passports.

Further guidance is expected next week from the Canadian Council of Parliamentary Ombudsman on the administrative fairness issues related to use of vaccine certification in the provincial/territorial public sectors.
